NATO holds nuclear exercises. NATO began approximately two weeks of nuclear exercises today (October 14). According to previously released information from NATO, 2,000 soldiers and 60 aircraft from 13 NATO countries are participating in this exercise. Reuters quoted NATO officials as saying that aircraft capable of carrying nuclear warheads will participate in the exercise missions. Iraq and Iran call for preventing regional conflict expansion. Iraqi President Rashid met with visiting Iranian Foreign Minister Araghchi on the 13th. Rashid stated that immediate action should be taken to stop Israeli aggression against the Gaza Strip and Lebanon and prevent the further expansion of regional conflict; he called for a diplomatic solution to the crisis.
