President Xi Jinping pointed out that exchanges and mutual learning among civilizations are a vital driving force for promoting the progress of human civilization and world peace and development. In June last year, the 78th United Nations General Assembly unanimously adopted a resolution proposed by China, designating June 10 each year as the International Day for Dialogue Among Civilizations. The resolution fully embodies the core essence of the Global Civilization Initiative proposed by President Xi Jinping. To strengthen international cultural exchanges and promote global dialogue among civilizations, China is working with all parties to practice the Global Civilization Initiative and jointly build a world garden of civilizations where all flowers bloom in harmony. On the occasion of the first International Day for Dialogue Among Civilizations, a series of celebratory activities were held around the world. The establishment of the International Day for Dialogue Among Civilizations aims to enhance global awareness of the diversity of civilizations and the important value of exchanges and cooperation among civilizations. Civilizations, like water, nourish all things silently. Faced with major questions such as "how do different civilizations coexist" and "where is human civilization heading," President Xi Jinping, standing at the height of the progress of human civilization and world peace and development, has expounded the important significance of exchanges and mutual learning among civilizations on various occasions. He has proposed China's solutions for promoting dialogue and exchanges among civilizations in line with the trend of the times, laying a solid civilizational foundation for building a community with a shared future for mankind. In March 2014, at the UNESCO headquarters, President Xi Jinping for the first time profoundly elaborated China's view on civilization in the new era to the world and put forward the important proposition of exchanges and mutual learning among civilizations. In March 2023, at the High-level Dialogue between the Communist Party of China and World Political Parties, President Xi Jinping solemnly proposed the Global Civilization Initiative, advocating respect for the diversity of world civilizations, promoting common values of humanity, emphasizing the inheritance and innovation of civilizations, and strengthening international cultural exchanges and cooperation. The Global Civilization Initiative is another important public good provided by China in the new era for the international community, and together with the Global Development Initiative and the Global Security Initiative, it forms a strong support for building a community with a shared future for mankind. From bilateral to multilateral, from regional to global, President Xi Jinping has personally promoted exchanges and mutual learning among different civilizations, enhancing mutual understanding and affinity among people of all countries. The continuously extending "civilization footprint" has written a new chapter of cooperation where "each finds beauty in its own, and all find beauty in common." China's proposition advocating dialogue and harmonious coexistence among different civilizations has won widespread recognition and support from the international community. Guided by Xi Jinping Thought on Diplomacy, China is committed to building bridges for cultural exchanges and mutual learning among civilizations, gathering synergy for common human progress and world prosperity and development. Inviting the five Central Asian countries to participate in the "Cultural Silk Road" plan; proposing to establish a "China-Arab Center for the Global Civilization Initiative" with Arab countries; joining hands with African countries to promote the "Partnership Action for Mutual Learning Among Civilizations"; deepening cultural exchanges and mutual learning between China and Latin America, holding the China-Latin America Civilization Dialogue Conference... A series of concrete actions have provided more footholds for practicing the Global Civilization Initiative, promoting harmonious coexistence and mutual achievement among different civilizations. China is committed to building new platforms for dialogue and exchanges among different civilizations and carrying out various forms of international cultural exchange and cooperation. From the successful hosting of the "Understanding China" International Conference, the Liangzhu Forum, and the World Congress of Classical Studies, to the successive establishment of the China-Hungary Center for Civilization Exchange and Mutual Learning and the Athens China Classical Civilization Research Institute, and then to the implementation of a series of measures to facilitate foreign visitors to China, and the holding of splendid China-foreign tourism years, cultural festivals, and youth art festivals... Continuous exchanges and dialogues have enhanced understanding, deepened trust, and continuously narrowed the distance between hearts. Civilizations are colorful because of exchanges and enriched by mutual learning. During the recent Dragon Boat Festival, from the Miluo River to the Main River in Germany, people from different countries experienced the charm of civilization integration in dragon boat races. At this moment, the China-Uzbekistan joint archaeological team is unearthing the dusty historical memories of an ancient city in the Surkhan River Basin of Uzbekistan. Precious cultural relics from Greece, Mexico, and other countries are meeting audiences across China, showcasing the colorfulness of world civilizations. Vivid scenes of civilization dialogue are gradually unfolding in China and around the world, sowing more seeds of friendship. Promoting a view of civilization based on equality, mutual learning, dialogue, and inclusiveness, China and different civilizations in the world communicate, learn from each other, and advance hand in hand, allowing the flowers of human civilization to bloom more splendidly and making the future of building a community with a shared future for mankind more promising.
